We hope you're as excited as we are about the new College Place branch! The College Place Branch Library project has been in the works since the city of College Place annexed into the District in 2019, and the District is thrilled to be able to provide improved facilities for the city of College Place & Walla Walla County community.

How are we paying for this?

As Lion's Park Community Center involves several partners, the funding sources are diverse:

$2.5 million earmark from 16^th District State Legislators
$2.5 million earmark from Senator Cantwell in FY 2024 congressionally directed spending
$2.5 million earmark from Senator Cantwell in consideration for FY 2025 congressionally directed spending
$200,000 Walla Walla County .09 Funds

Where will it be, and what will it look like?

Walla Walla County Rural Library District is collaborating with the City of College Place to build the new Lion's Park Community Center on Southeast Larch Avenue.

The College Place Library would be located on the second floor of the community center. This location is extremely accessible on two bus lines and will be situated in a beautiful renovated park setting, perfect for outdoor programming and storytimes!

Below are the very tentative conceptual architectural drawings and renderings of the Lion's Park Community Center. A Steering Committee will be convened in 2025 to further refine the architectural plans with the firm Design West:
