To confirm they are visiting on that day, please confirm by calling the Burbank branch at (509) 527-3284 extension 1.</p><p data-uw-rm-color-contrast="prs">FAQ</p><p><strong>What are therapy dogs?</strong></p><p data-uw-rm-color-contrast="prs">A therapy dog is a dog that is trained to provide affection, comfort and support to people all kinds of people, not just their handlers.&nbsp;They will go with their owners to volunteer in public settings, such as nursing homes, schools, libraries, and more!</p><p><strong>What is the difference between a therapy dog and a service animal?</strong></p><p data-uw-rm-color-contrast="prs">Emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals are not considered service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Per the ADA: "a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.&nbsp; The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability".&nbsp;Therapy dogs do not have public access rights with exception to the specific places they are visiting and working.</p>
